If I Retreat the unit chosen by Mirror Image before its reflexive trigger resolves, does Mirror Image fizzle?

Mirror Image's reflexive trigger doesn't target, so it can still finalize even after the referenced unit is gone. However, since that unit no longer exists on the board, the token doesn't actually become a copy of it — it just still gains Temporary from the effect.
