Can Gust respond before an Ambush unit resolves at the battlefield?

The enemy controls Star Spring with Fizz. I move Gem Jammer in as attacker and use focus to Ambush Nidalee, Cat Form. Can the enemy Gust Gem Jammer back before Nidalee resolves, making the Ambush illegal because I no longer control units there? What about Traveling Merchant's move trigger instead?

No. If you have priority and play a unit with Ambush, it resolves before your opponent gets priority — permanents do not linger on the chain. With Traveling Merchant, when his move trigger is on the chain he is already at the battlefield. If the opponent Gusts in response, you still get priority to Ambush Nidalee afterward, and Merchant's trigger still resolves because it does not reference Merchant being on the board.
