Scrapyard Champion

Does my Chosen Champion need to already be in my Main Deck to swap it in from the sideboard between games?

How does the Chosen Champion swap between game 1 and games 2/3 of a match work? Does the champion I want to switch to need to already be in my registered Main Deck, or is having a single copy in my sideboard enough?
