If Deathgrip doesn't actually kill the first unit, do I still give Might?

I play Deathgrip, but the unit that should be killed leaves, stops being a legal target, or has its death replaced. Does the second unit still get the Might bonus?

No. The second unit only gets the Might if the first friendly unit is actually killed. You still draw 1 because that instruction is separated from the conditional Might bonus.
