Can Yasuo's legend ability be used during a combat showdown?

My opponent attacked my units at a battlefield I am holding. When his Might was lower, he used Yasuo's legend ability to move the attacking unit back to base. Is that legal, or should the showdown resolve with his units dying?

Yasuo's legend ability does not have Action or Reaction, so it can only be used during that player's turn, outside a showdown, when the chain is empty. Activating it during a combat showdown is not legal.
