Must lethal assignment account for Ki Barrier prevention on a Tank unit?

I am defending with two 3-Might units, one with Tank. My opponent attacks with 6 Might and I play Ki Barrier on the Tank unit.

Must they assign all 6 damage to the Tank because prevention counts toward lethal assignment, or can they split 3 and 3?

They must assign 6 damage to the Tank unit because lethal damage can factor in prevention effects. Both units survive and the Tank has 1 damage prevention remaining.
