Can Sneaky Deckhand be played to an open battlefield while the opponent occupies the other?

My opponent occupies one battlefield. On my turn can I play Sneaky Deckhand straight to my other open battlefield, or does Sneaky require both battlefields to be open?

Your opponent was wrong. You can play Sneaky Deckhand to any uncontrolled battlefield regardless of what is happening at other battlefields.
