What happens when Vilemaw attacks into units that won't deal combat damage?

I hold a battlefield with very high total Might. Opponent Ride the Winds Vilemaw in; my units won't deal combat damage. Vilemaw cannot kill all my units.

Is Vilemaw recalled to base, and is he ready or exhausted?
