Does Glasc Mixologist's Deathknell resolve before losing control during a showdown?

During a showdown I kill my opponent's Glasc Mixologist as the attacker. After cleanup, my opponent says their Deathknell triggers after the showdown ends and, because they still control the battlefield, they can play units back and start a new showdown.

Is that correct?
