Can a defender move a ready unit to the defending battlefield without an effect?

If someone is defending a battlefield, can they move a ready unit from another battlefield to the defending battlefield on their own, without a spell or ability allowing it?

No. Units cannot move on their own during a showdown unless a spell or ability allows them to move.
