Where can Arcane Shift replay a unit from trash?

Arcane Shift only changes when you can play a unit, not where. By default you can play to base or battlefields you control unless other abilities grant additional locations — such as Sneaky Deckhand allowing an open battlefield, but not Ezreal on his own.
