Can Deathknell resolve during a showdown before conquer, letting a defender play units onto the battlefield?

If one of my units dies during a showdown (for example to Hidden Blade or a damage spell), do I resolve its Deathknell at that moment and before the showdown resolves? If my Glasc Mixologist or Rift Herald dies this way while I am the defender, can I use their Deathknell to play a unit onto the battlefield I am defending?

Yes, you are still in a showdown. While a chain is active, battlefield control is not checked. As defender, you can use Glasc Mixologist's Deathknell to play a unit onto the battlefield you are defending because you still control it. Rift Herald's Deathknell only plays units to base, but if you play Harnessed Dragon from base and it kills the opponent's only unit in the combat, the combat has no result and nobody conquers.
