Does Void Gate stop only damage, or also effects like Stupefy/Smokescreen?

After text updates, does Void Gate prevent only damage events, or can it also block non-damage spell effects such as Stupefy or Smokescreen outcomes?

Void Gate's clarified text applies to damage prevention. It does not generally stop non-damage effects like Stupefy or Smokescreen.
